Ideal candidate will have experience in all common forms of commercial / light industrial and municipal construction.

The Commercial Carpenter position will be responsible to perform all necessary tasks required to complete construction work on projects. This will include blueprint reading, accurate layout of foundations, walls and items to be incorporated into the work. Metal and wood stud framing, sheeting,
Siding and finishes. Capable of trim carpentry and installation of all hardware and specialty items, following all required safety protocols for the assigned task.

The Carpenter will be able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately, to provide a quality product to the clients of Midwest Construction Group in a professional and safe environment.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience is required

Other:
Current Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required.
Travel may be required
Compensation based on experience and knowledge.

Experience in construction and with jobsites preferred. Will train motivated individuals.

Will perform all necessary tasks required to support construction work on projects. Will assist the carpenters and Superintendent

Midwest Construction Group is seeking a Project Manager/Estimator that will be able to shift focus between general contracting projects, to structural, precast and helical projects with our sister company, Midwest Precast Services. This Project Manager/Estimator will be involved with all aspects of the Project Management and Estimating Process.  The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and a quick learner to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.  The candidate must have excellent communication (verbal and written), negotiation, organizational, time management, problem-solving and computer skills.

This position will work in our office located in Fargo, ND. This is a salaried exempt position and may occasionally require evening and weekend work. Travel may also be required.

Responsibilities

This project manager/estimator is responsible for preparation of complete estimates and proposals, utilizing documents ranging from concept sketches to complete construction drawings and specifications along with managing specific projects from start to completion. Responsibilities include;

  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with team to confirm complete scope
  • managing and coordinating hard dollar bids
  • Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing
  • Prepare instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information
  • Perform and/or manage the quantity survey and pricing effort for internal budget
  • Prepare conceptual budgets based on minimal information
  • Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits
  • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented
  • Review and/or manage the review and scoping of specialty contractor bids
  • Review constructability issues with operational staff
  • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs
  • Analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design teams, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations
  • Actively participate in industry, client and community relations to enhance company image
  • Participate in the transfer of information on successful projects
  • Assist in the preparation and review of work plans as requested
  • Participate in periodic reviews and visits to projects as appropriate
  • Lead teams using our Zero Lost Time Injury Safety Culture.

  • Scheduling of Projects using P6/Microsoft Project
  • Budgeting of Labor, Materials, Equipment, Etc.
  • Tracking Project Financials
  • Assembling Teams to ensure a successful project.

Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the US and provide current supporting documentation.
  • A degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating, Construction Management, or similar degree is required.
  • Five or more years of estimating experience with a commercial contractor is preferred.
  • Experience with Precast Concrete background.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (high level of skill with Excel and Word)
  • On-Screen Takeoff, Revit, ProEst and Acrobat experience is a plus.
